Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum is able to keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners and has a large bin that needs to be cleaned out every now and then.
You can also find models that can mop and charge on their own This feature could be important for people with pets or children. Many of the best performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.

Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we tested the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. vacuum robot integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
In our testing, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back again.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to get every single area (though a second run-through usually does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all types of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently will run out of battery before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed through the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be washed to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, as well as a dustbin that is 2X bigger than the competitors. This allows them to clean the area for a longer period of time. They also come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which senses the presence of dirt or debris on the surface and then automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also has an app that lets you to view a virtual map, control functions, and schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and then return it to its dock to charge by pressing one button. The app lets you modify the LEDs on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the edge. And the ability to create a weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
